Babies need a lot of stuff. Did you realize that by now? I’ve bet you’ve even asked Google ways to save money on baby stuff? Because they need a lot of stuff like diapers, baby clothes, baby blankets, baby gear like strollers, car seats, bottles, etc.
Plus babies grow so fast! By the time you know it they will be walking and talking. Therefore I used anything I could to save money on all the items for my baby. From sales to gently used baby items, I took advantage of all the savings I could on my baby stuff.
To ease your anxiety you don’t have to get everything under the sun for the baby all at once. I suggest you take your time and plan because, in the beginning, the baby will only need milk, diapers, clothes, somewhere safe to sleep, and mom.
With that being said here are some tips on how you can save money on baby items.

1. Save money with baby registries
Have you signed up for a baby registry yet? If you haven’t already please do so. They are free! It doesn’t matter if you have the baby shower or not because you can get major discounts from the stores.
As you get closer to your due date the store will give you usually a 15 % off coupon on the remaining items of your registry. Each coupon has different guidelines but usually, the coupon is good until 6 months after the baby is born.
You also can exchange items easily if you need to. It’s a no-brainer sign-up and save money. Ps. did you know once you register the store gives you free stuff when you sign up?

2. Clearance sections!
Don’t pass by the clearance section at your local stores because you will miss out on some deals. Target, Walmart, Buy Buy Baby have designated areas where you will be able to find some good gems.
3. Sales!
Who doesn’t love a sale? After each season of the year (spring, summer, fall and winter) there is a sale. The store want to get rid of there seasonal inventory to put in the new items which usually give great discounts. You could definitely buy clothing for the following year.
In the summer there is also sales based of the Amazon Prime day sales. Other stores like Target and Walmart have started their own sales.
Don’t forget about Black Friday. These sales have amazing discounted prices for you to save money on baby diapers, clothes, strollers, baby toiletries, and other baby gear too!
4. Consignments
Consignments like Just Between Friends are amazing. Several families come together to sell clothes, toys, shoes, and baby gear. There is a wide variety of items at different price points. Everything is organized by category and size so you can find items easily. I definitely shopped till I dropped here.
5. Good Buy Gear
Good buy gear is an online resale shop for baby gear like strollers, activity centers, breast pumps, change tables, bassinets, and all other baby gear. You can buy and sell your items there too.

6. Thrift stores
Thrift stores are another place to find baby clothes and other baby items. Each thrift store has different prices and sales. For example, the thrift store near my home had new inventory on Wednesday for $2.50 specifically that day. Every day after that they deduct a quarter until they reach $0.75 Tuesday. However, thrift stores aren’t the tidiest so you will definitely have to dig for your buried treasure.
7. Garage sales
Garage sales usually have a bunch of baby gear for sale. Babies grow so fast and you will sometimes find brand new items or barely used items for sale. You can haggle with the seller for a lesser price.
Another great tip if you get there at the perfect time….. specifically when they are about to put up all their stuff. I kids you not they will sell you the items at an even lower price just to get rid of them or they will even give you the baby items for free. I’m speaking from experience because I was fortunate to be blessed by some of them.
8. Resale apps
Offer up, Facebook marketplace, Craigslist, Next door, and Poshmark are other ways you can definitely save some money by finding great quality products at a major discount.
I personally love to shop for furniture and gently used clothing for my family. Did you know you can sometimes get free items as well! I actually got my baby’s crib for free on Craigslist.
Just remember to be safe and follow all safety guidelines.
